The South Bound Brook Fire dept was called at 3:56am on Sunday morning Jan 22 for a motor vehicle accident on the corner of Elizabeth Ave and Canal Rd, as the fire dept was responding county dispatchers notified the fire dept that the car was wedged between the trees and hanging over the canals edge and the patient needs to be extricated from the vehicle, at that time the fire chief requested Somerset fire and rescue to assist with the accident, as the police officers were talking with the driver of the vehicle he couldn't remember if anyone else was in the vehicle with him so at that time the fire dept put the boat in the canal to search the water and the county prosecutors office dive team was called, after the water and land was searched and nothing was found the search was called off. Units on scene were South Bound Brook fire and police dept, Somerset fire and rescue, Somerset County dive unit and Robert wood Johnson ems. A Good job and teamwork was done by all.
