Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic Hurricane on record as well as the second costliest Atlantic hurricane only surpassed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
At least 185 people were killed along the path of the storm.

Somerset County, as well as South Bound Brook, was severely damaged by the high winds and driving rain. Many trees, telephone poles, and power lines were down for many days after.
